Best friends since HS, chefs and cofounders, Seth and Ryan were both born in raised in Central Illinois. It wasn't until moving to Chicago their culinary adventures blossomed. Inspired by the variety of cuisines available 24/7, as well as access to locally sourced ingredients thanks to the many Chicago farmer's markets, Nude Dude Food was born.
The best thing about Chicago is the 1,000s of restaurants and options to choose from 24/7. Picking favorites is hard, but you can find stellar food in the unlikeliest places. Favorites include El Tragon (located in a gas station mini mall), Monteverde, El Che, Longman & Eagle, as well as Red Hot Ranch, where you can get an elite smash burger for less than $10.
Although NDF specializes in farm to table ingredients and menus, their favorite thing to make is sourdough bread and a variety of focaccias. Every event starts with a communal bread board with skillfully crafted house made pickles and accoutrements sets the tone for the dining experience ahead.
NDF focuses on fresh seasonal ingredients primarily sourced from local Midwest farmers and farmers markets here in Chicago. Menus change often, but also are inspired by what's in season, and what products have the highest nutritional value. Our philosophy is starting with high quality ingredients, and letting the food speak for itself.
Both Ryan and Seth came from professional careers outside the kitchen. Ryan a social worker and therapist, found food and fitness to be a stress reliever and creative outlet from his day to day life. Seth, a former business major, turned musician has always been an entertainer and front man. Seth found that same passion and outlet in NDF, using his voice and talent in the kitchen to lead events and tell stories through food and nourishment.
Most days are spent creating in the kitchen, or connecting with our local food purveyors, however when given the change, you can find Seth engaging in extreme sports like kite surfing, riding roller coasters, or rock climbing. Ryan, although a risk taker, likes his feet on the ground, unless he's riding his motorcycle along the lakefront. Both chefs enjoy the city life, but jump at the change to get out in nature, camp, or enjoy a summer bbq with friends.
