Chef Marshall's Mom is an excellent cook - and he grew up learning how to be a chef right alongside her. This early start in the world of culinary appreciation jumpstarted Marshall's career. After getting a BA in Philosophy at Grinnell College, he has spent the last 8 years working his way through restaurants & learning the professional side of Culinary Arts. He is currently working on his Masters of Health & Wellness Coaching, while being a private chef at Elite Personal Chefs. He hopes to change the way people think about wellness, nutrition & high quality cuisine. His hobbies include soccer and he is a volunteer Youth Soccer Coach.

I was was born and raised in Maryland in a multiracial family. As a result, my family (mostly my mother) made it their goal to ensure that part of our lived experience included food from all over the world in an attempt to help my brother & I understand the world we lived in was not always homogenous.
My favorite restaurant in Chicago is Bacchanalia, an intimate Italian restaurant near my home in Pilsen which reminds me of my family's Italian roots with the intentionality and unobtrusive presentation. When you receive a plate in this cozy restaurant, what you are seeing, tasting and smelling is care and expertise.
My favorite thing to make myself is Butternut Squash Soup because the labor of love that goes into the composition results in a smooth, fragrant and hearty meal- but doesn't require such a high level of skill that it is inaccessible to make a regular basis.
I don't have a specialty or focus, but love seasonal foods & variety.
I love receiving a dish in a restaurant that' made with care, love & expertise - it made me want to become a chef. I love being able to intentionally learn about people, pallets, plates and presentations in order to deliver people a product that makes them feel cared for and understood for who they are.
Outside of the kitchen, I enjoy playing, watching and coaching soccer (Go Arsenal FC!), playing DnD, reading and exploring Chicago.
Elite Personal Chefs is a collection of creative, bold, welcoming and understanding people who want nothing more than to promote the skills and talents of their chef partners. It is a privilege to work with such an incredible group of people in an industry that has not always been synonymous with care. My personal philosophy has led me to partner my Rooted LLC with Elite Personal Chefs in order to affirm my commitment to stay grounded and committed to the role of directly serving the needs of others. In this, I hope to be able to serve all of my clients as they would aspire to serve themselves.
As a trained philosopher and an aspiring mental health and wellness coach, I really appreciate the Private Chef Lifestyle because it mirrors a lot of the lessons that I learned earlier in life. Learning how to cater to the dietary preferences of my clients, listening to their stories, their dreams and aspirations for their families is an uncelebrated aspect of the lifestyle that helps to make the experience more holistic and centered on the needs of the people that I serve.
